Teignmouth’s popular RNLI Boxing Day “Walk in the Sea” is back again this year! A fantastically fun event attracting hundreds of people, in full fancy dress, running into the sea, on Teignmouth beach, near our historic pier. Don’t fancy getting chilly and wet? Join the thousands of spectators cheering them on!
Not only is it fabulous fun to watch others take the plunge, but it’s wonderful to see the array of costumes that people come up with! With a lovely family atmosphere, it makes for a brilliant day out. Easily accessed by the number 2 Stagecoach bus from Exeter Road near Lady’s Mile to Dawlish, depending on holiday bus times, or by driving to Teignmouth. See directions here.
This is a fundraising event for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, our local heroes and literal lifesavers! There is a suggested donation of £5 for participants. All participants must register online or via a form available from the Teignmouth RNLI shop.
A note from the organisers:
“Great news. The RNLI “Walk in the Sea” will be going ahead this year after a 2 year absence. Get those fancy dress costumes out as we will be doing the usual best team, best child and best adult fancy dress competitions. Why not get sponsorship and help Teignmouth RNLI. Registration and sponsorship forms will be available online and from the Teignmouth RNLI shop from December 1st.”
We hope to see you at this years RNLI Boxing Day “Walk in the Sea”!
