Setting Up Your BBQ: Safety and Placement

Proper setup is crucial for a safe grilling experience. A well-organized BBQ area ensures a smooth, enjoyable cooking session:

  • Check Your Equipment: Always start with a thorough check to ensure your BBQ is stable and clean.
  • Choose the Right Spot: Place your BBQ on a flat, stable surface away from flammable materials such as tents, caravans, and vegetation.
  • Protect the Grass: Keep your BBQ raised to protect the beauty of Lady’s Mile (at least 50cm off the ground).
  • Important: BBQs cannot be used at all on decking areas to prevent any risk of fire.
  • Contain Your Flames: We cherish a good BBQ, but always remember, no open fires are allowed.

Comprehensive Fire Safety

Effective fire management is crucial to safe barbecuing. Preparation and awareness are key to preventing incidents:

  • Stay Equipped: Keep fire-fighting tools like water, sand, or a fire extinguisher nearby.
  • Monitor Continuously: Never leave your BBQ unattended and only use recommended firelighters.
  • Safe Disposal: After cooking, completely extinguish the BBQ and safely dispose of coals to prevent any risk of fire.

The Perils of Disposable BBQs

Despite their convenience, disposable BBQs carry risks that outweigh their benefits:

  • Heat and Toxins: They retain heat for hours and can emit carbon monoxide long after extinguishing.
  • Not Permitted: Due to safety and environmental concerns, we do not allow disposable BBQs at our park.

Nurturing BBQ Etiquette and Food Safety

Maintaining high standards of food safety is essential for a pleasurable BBQ experience:

  • Hygiene First: Always wash hands before and after handling raw meat. Use separate utensils for raw and cooked foods to avoid cross-contamination.
  • Thorough Cooking: Ensure all meats are well-cooked, and keep perishables chilled until they’re ready to grill.
  • Educate and Inform: We encourage educating all guests about these practices to maintain food safety throughout your stay.

Me and family come here basically every year and it never gets old. The lodges are amazing as well as the caravans, and when camping there is lots of entertainment! A lot of days there is live music, and they offer lots of games. There are two pools (indoor and outdoor) which both include water slides. There is also an arcade, restaurants and shops on site. It’s not a far walk from the beach and has beautiful scenery. Staff are great too. 10/10 would definitely recommend!

Loved staying here. Its worth drive around the different pitching areas, we came with a tent, to find a quiet spot. Loved the pools, arcades and bakery in the on site shop. It also has great facilities which are cleaned and well looked after. Def worth the 6 hour drive and will be coming again!

Just had 2 weeks here in a silver birch lodge and it's been amazing. The view is gorgeous from the decking area. The lodge it self is spotlessly clean and spacious The hot tub is a great bonus. Very quiet around the lodge area. The site it self is the best I've ever stayed on, everywhere is immaculately spotlessly clean. The outside pool is great fun. The water was warm but we did have alot of sunshine 🌞.We will be booking for next year definitely
